Zone 6 Womens’ Amateur & Senior Tournament

Qualicum Beach Memorial Golf Club played host May 6th to both individuals and teams from across Zone 6 with spots in provincial championships on the line.

A shotgun format meant that all players finished simultaneously but two players had to keep playing to determine the winner. Alberni GC’s Christina Spence Proteau and Morningstar’ Shelly Stouffer both posted even par 72’s necessitating a four hole play-off to determine the overall Amateur winner.

The two then went to Balfour in mid June to represent Zone 6 at the provincial women’s championship where both wold finish in the top ten. See full results HERE

Stouffer also was the champion in the Senior division (aged 50 or older by August 30, 2024). This will qualify her to head to Sun Peaks in Kamloops July 1 - 4 for the provincial Seniors’ Championship. She will be joined by runner up Josee Deslaurier, also from Morningstar.

There is also a team competition where Clubs can send four person teams to compete. The team from Morningstar won the gross title with the home squad from Qualicum beach winning the net.

The overall tournament format is designed to be inclusive… The shotgun tee-times mean everyone finishes at the same time and prizes are awarded to one-third of the field. There are gross and net skins, Deuce Pot, KP’s and even a 50/50 draw.
