110th Canadian Women's Amateur Championship Field Starting To Take Shape
Royal Colwood is getting ready to host some of the top female amateur golfers from across North America and around the world July 29th to August 2nd and there is a lot on the line…
Overall, there are currently more than 50 players from B.C. scheduled to compete with another 75 from the rest of Canada plus 50+ from south of the border. Add to that one player each from Mexico and China plus three members of Australia’s national team and you have some serious competition.
The field for the tournament will be capped at approximately 156, so there will be some culling.
Currently, there are four players ranked in the top 75 in the world rankings (WAGR) who are scheduled to compete:
Jocelyn Bruch (USA) 31
Lauren Kim (CAN) 39
Casey Weidenfeld (USA) 53
Jeneath Wong (AUS) 70

This big, high-powered interest should come as no surprise. There is a lot on the line.
The champion - aside from adding their name to the Duchess of Connaught Gold Cup alongside the likes of Dawn Coe-Jones (1983) and Brooke Henderson (2013)* - will also earn two huge exemptions.

The first one will be instantaneous gratification for the winner as they will immediately need to book air travel to Oklahoma to compete in the 2024 U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship from Aug. 5 to 11 at the Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa.
The second, while more delayed, will be even bigger… an exemption into the LPGA CPKC Canadian Women’s Open in 2025.
