Video: Cordova Bay Employee Swims The Extra Yard

When a member’s pull cart and bag took an unexpected dip, Woo Park took the plunge to save the day...

The pond beside the 18th green at Cordova Bay was the scene of a near golf equipment tragedy in late April 2021 when a cart left unsecured rolled backwards ending up submerged in more than six feet of water.

Enter Outside Services team member Woo Park who made repeated dives to retrieve the missing items.

Evidently, this is not as uncommon an occurrence as one might think.

VIU Mariners’ Golf Coach Mike Hrabowych recalled a similar event more than a decade ago at the Nanaimo GC where he assisted in retrieving his playing partner’s cart and clubs from a pond.
