Spring Swing Lube With Callum Ashby

Here, Highland Pacific's Callum Ashby, PGA of BC 2023 Teacher of the year - Island Region,  takes us through four basic steps to get that rust off your game...

Golfers, rejoice! Spring has finally arrived, and it's time to dust off those clubs and hit the links. But before you tee off, take a few moments to prepare yourself for a successful and enjoyable round of golf. Here are some tips to get you back to golfing after a long winter:

#1 Check Your Gear
First things first, check your gear. Make sure your clubs, balls, gloves, and shoes aren't worse for wear. You don't want to end up like that guy whose club head went flying off mid-swing. Unless, of course, you're looking for an excuse for a bad shot :)

#2 Warm Up
Stretching and warming up before playing are crucial to avoiding injury and improving your performance. And let's face it, no one wants to be the golfer who throws out their back on the first tee. There's a long season ahead of us! Take it easy and get that body warmed up for some solid swings.

#3 Practice Your Swing
Practice makes perfect, or so they say. And while perfection may be a lofty goal, a little practice will go a long way towards helping you enjoy your time on the course. If you're a bit rusty, start with some easy swings, or come see one of our seven teaching professionals!

#4 Take it Slow
Golf is a game of patience and that applies to getting back into the swing of things after a long winter, too. Don't be too hard on yourself if your game isn't up to par right away. Take your time, and remember, Rome wasn't built in a day. But, hey, it's not a competition...unless you're playing with your friends.

In conclusion, getting back to golf after a long winter requires a bit of preparation, but it's worth it for a great day on the course. So, check your gear, warm up, practice your swing, take a lesson and take it slow. And above all, remember to have fun!
