Mount Brenton GC Celebrates 75th Anniversary

Mount Brenton Golf Course celebrated their 75th-anniversary by installing a legacy flagpole with three flags unfurled, one of which is the new MBGC banner.

This official dedication took place on April 23, the original opening date of the course. Also, two celebratory “feather” banners were be installed, one on the first tee, and the second one on the 10th.

While the wind was chilly, the rain held off until the end of the ceremony celebrating the incorporation of Mount Brenton Golf Course 75 years ago.

Upwards of 50 people were on hand as Penelakut Elder Florence James, performed a traditional First Nations blessing of the club’s legacy flagpole.

Club President Tom Andrews Emceed the event while also in attendance were North Cowichan Mayor Rob Douglas and Chemainus Councillors Debra Toporowski and Chris Estace.

Mount Brenton’s natural beauty and facilities provide many of the amenities of a private club while located in Chemainus, Canada’s Mural Capital. Narrow fairways and tricky greens make for a challenging round.

So come help them celebrate their 75th birthday with a round of golf and stop by the Canteen on the Green for a beverage and one of the daily specials.
