Bill Hobbis Honoured By Home Club

Royal Colwood GC has honoured Bill Hobbis as a Life Member...

The Club awarded the two-time RCGC Club champion the Life Member designation, which can be given to “any Member who has given the Club unselfish and meritorious service.”

The award was more recently made more “official” in a COVID-compliant ceremony where Hobbis’ name was added to the Club’s Wall of Honour.

Aside from winning the Club Championship twice, Bill’s achievements were many and varied from playing on three Willingdon Cup teams representing two provinces to being a Governor with the Royal Canadian Golf Association. He also is a level four rules offcial and worked at many international level tournaments.

In 2019, Bill was inducted into the British Columbia Golf Hall of Fame.

In the release for this announcement, the Club’s President, John Culley summed up his contributions.

“Bill has played the game with excellence and passion for 50 years. He has volunteered tirelessly at all levels of the game and he has accomplished all this while using his own very unique sense of humour. I know all of you join us in congratulating Bill on becoming a Life Member of Royal Colwood Golf Club, the highest honour our club can award a member.”
