UVic Golf Rounding Into Form With Local Addition

Recruiting local Maguire Lines to the 2023 roster has UVic Golf looking good going into the 2023 season…

The big local news for UVic Golf is the addition of the Oak Bay High School product, Maguire Lines to the 2023 Men’s team roster.

Lines plays out of both Uplands and Gorge Vale Golf Clubs and currently sports a +0.2 handicap. He was the Zone Five Junior Payer of the year in 2022 and finished 2nd at the BC Juvenile Boys Championship.

Lines won both the Gorge Vale (L) and Uplands (R) Junior titles in 2022 and was named the Zone Five Junior Player Of the Year (centre)

In an Instagram post, Maguire acknowledged the support he has received, “Thank you so much to @britishcolumbiagolf and the committee in charge of Zone 5 for organizing some great tournaments this year. I learned a lot about myself throughout these tournaments and I look forward to competing in many more in the 2023 season. (I am) honoured to be awarded the 2022 Junior Golfer of the Year for Zone 5… (It’s been a) rollercoaster of a season but I managed to push through and get some good finishes.”

Also on Instagram, the Uvic men’s coach talked about how Lines would contribute to the squad, “Maguire will bring a mature presence and well developed skill set to our men's program. He will also be a great teammate who will exemplify the characteristics we believe in as a Vike student-athlete.”
