Sandy Harper Honoured
Since the launch of the Nanaimo Sports Hall of Fame in 2008, 45 people have been inducted. And on Feb 23rd Sandy Harper was added to that list. Sandy actually started playing at the Nanaimo Golf and Country Club at the age of 12. He would win the BC Amateur in 1980 and the BC Seniors at his home course in 2012. He would repeat as BC Seniors’ Champion last year at Uplands in an emotional win after suffering a stroke in 2019. See Full Story HERE
Morningstar Welcomes (Back) New Superintendent
On their website, Morningstar has announced the hire of Ryan O’Halloran as their new superintendent. Ryan is experiencing a ‘homecoming’ as he is actually returning to Morningstar – he was the assistant superintendent here from 2014-2019. He then moved to assume the head superintendent role at the Prince Rupert Golf Club. He will be reconnecting with some of his past crew members and, while he enjoyed his time in Prince Rupert, both he and his wife are looking forward to being back on Vancouver Island.

Pheasant Glen's next Wine Maker’s Dinner at The Nest goes April 20th at 6pm. Enjoy Prawn Inferno, Mushroom Risotto, Patatas Bravas and Espresso Grilled Flank Steak, followed by a ‘Plateau de Fromage’ for dessert — perfectly paired with wines from local winery Emandare Vineyard.

Dates Announced For Popular Nanaimo GC Tournaments
The Nanaimo Men’s Amateur Tournament is held each year on the weekend following BC Day in August (August 8-10, 2024). It is a 3-day individual stroke-play tournament played from the Blue tees in 4 flights, with a maximum of 208 competitors. In addition to NGC men members, players come from many other golf clubs on Vancouver Island and BC’s Lower Mainland. Prizes are awarded for both gross and net winners in each flight.
The players from the 2023 tournament will receive an invitation letter & entry form by email by April 1st. Priority for 2023 contestants ends May 15, 2024, please ensure your entry form & payment are received before this date!

Zone Six Junior Golf Tour
The Zone 6 Junior Tour runs from April to July offering the opportunity to play a variety of courses at discounted rates in friendly competition with other juniors. Tournaments are open to junior boys/girls, and they welcome juniors from other areas who happen to be visiting Vancouver Island.
